The Gardening Forum Showcases the Latest Trends in Garden and Landscape Design
14.02.2025
The Slovak-wide Horticultural Forum began on February 12 at the Slovak University of Agriculture (SUA) in Nitra, marking its thirteenth edition.
This year’s focus is on the collaboration between designers, implementers, and maintenance teams, as well as emerging trends in garden and landscape design, especially in response to changing climatic and social conditions. The forum also features 21 exhibitors, showcasing the latest innovations in the field.
The two-day event was officially opened by Dr. Mária Bihuňová, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Society for Garden and Landscape Design in Slovakia (SZKT), which co-organized the forum alongside SUA. In her opening remarks, Dr. Bihuňová emphasized that the forum aims not only to improve environmental quality but also to expand professional knowledge and elevate the social status of garden and landscape design professionals in Slovakia.
On behalf of the university, Vice-Rector for Science and Research Drahomír Lančarič addressed the participants, expressing enthusiasm for the event: "This is the third time our university has co-organized the Horticultural Forum. We’re excited that this year’s forum will inspire fresh ideas, foster new implementations, and create opportunities for enriching discussions."
The forum continues its tradition of presenting inspiring examples from Slovakia and abroad, with a special focus on the Czech Republic. Czech experts will tackle contemporary topics such as green infrastructure concepts, the role of culture in landscape architecture, and innovative soil modification techniques designed to improve soil health and promote tree growth. One of the key discussions will address a pressing question: Why have we seen a decline in tree planting in recent years, and how can we reverse this trend?
