SUA and the Technical University of Zvolen to Launch Six Joint Study Programmes
18.02.2025On Friday, February 14, the Slovak University of Agriculture (SUA) in Nitra hosted a working meeting with representatives from the Technical University of Zvolen (TUZVO) to advance their collaboration on six new joint study programmes as part of the AgroForestry project.
The TUZVO delegation was welcomed by Milan Šimko, SUA’s Vice-Rector for Education, and Pavol Findura, Vice-Rector for Communication and Practice, along with other university officials. Following productive discussions, the universities confirmed their commitment to launching these programmes across multiple study levels. At the bachelor’s level, they will introduce a professional study programme in Mechatronics. The master’s level will offer two programmes—Agroforestry and Precision Agriculture [&] Forestry—while the doctoral level will include Inclusive Exterior and Interior Design, Landscape Protection and Use, and Wildlife Management and Protection. The first group of students will be admitted in the 2026/2027 academic year.
The AgroForestry consortium brings together SUA and TUZVO, two leading Slovak universities specializing in ecology, sustainable agriculture and forestry, design, and green infrastructure. The project aims to enhance global competitiveness by fostering deeper collaboration between institutions. A key focus is the accreditation of innovative joint study programmes, strengthening research and innovation capacities, and integrating shared resources such as libraries, publications, and IT systems.
Beyond academic collaboration, the project also includes significant infrastructure investments. As part of these efforts, SUA is currently reconstructing its University Sports Centre, while both universities are planning comprehensive renovations to improve research, educational, and student accommodation facilities. By merging expertise, modernizing infrastructure, and expanding academic opportunities, SUA and TUZVO are laying the foundation for a competitive and internationally recognized education system, preparing students for the future of sustainable agriculture and forestry.
