Prof. Peter Bielik reelected as SUA Rector

The chairman of the SUA Academic Senate received 25 collective proposals for the candidate on the position of SUA Rector. Prof. Bielik accepted the candidacy proposal.
Prof. Peter Bielik evaluated past four years in his office, in particular the implementation of the objectives, which were to become pillars of stability and development of the university. He stated that over the past years SUA has received several major projects which have contributed to the priority objectives - development of science, research and education and the increased international acceptance of SUA. As explained, our university has become a recognized partner of several international associations, an organizer of numerous professional events, summer schools, symposia. Also importantly, SUA is a founder of Visegrad University Association. Moreover, SUA infrastructure is also being constantly developed. Regarding the key priorities for the development of the university Prof. Bielik stressed in particular the need to improve education, especially in the context of the forthcoming accreditation of universities, creating new competitive study programmes in accordance with the placement of graduates, improving conditions for teaching and research, international cooperation, participation in international educational and research projects, as well as identification of new opportunities for our involvement in applied research related to the programming period.
The candidate´s speech triggered the discussion. Several questions, comments and remarks regarding topics such as better access to library services within the university campus, move of competences to faculties as well as identification of most important issues from the Rector´s point of view were asked.
