THIRD-COUNTRY NATIONAL
- Visa - national visa type D -Preparation of all necessary documents for the visa application. Information on whether a visa is required can be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic. To verify visa requirements, you can use the Visa Check or the Guide to administrative duties - entry and stay in Slovakia, where all the necessary information is available
- it is also necessary to prepare complete documentation for submitting an application for a temporary residence permit for the purpose of research and development. Instructions for filling out the temporary residence application form can be found on the Euraxess Point SAV website
- communication and coordination with the institute to which the applicant has been admitted, as well as with the Euraxess Centre at SPU, is important
VISAS
- if the planned stay in Slovakia exceeds 90 days, the applicant must apply for a national visa type D, which is required to obtain a temporary residence permit
- the application for this visa must be submitted at the Slovak diplomatic mission (embassy) in the applicant's home country or in the country where they hold a residence permit
- before applying, it is necessary to contact the Slovak diplomatic mission (embassy) to arrange an appointment
- all required documents must be prepared, including those needed in Slovakia for the temporary residence permit application
- the visa is issued for 90 days, and the embassy has 30 days to decide after receiving the application
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR A NATIONAL VISA TYPE D APPLICATION
- application form – completed and signed application form for a national visa type D
- Recent photo – 3×3.5 cm
- valid passport – must be valid for at least three months after the intended expiration of the visa and issued within the last 10 years
- documents proving the purpose of stay – hosting agreement (in Slovak)
- documents proving financial security – e.g., hosting agreement
- travel health insurance – coverage of at least €30,000
- air ticket
- fee – €90 for issuing a national visa for the purpose of submitting a residence application at the Slovak Foreign Police
- criminal record extract – prepared for submission with the temporary residence application in Slovakia
All documents submitted for the national visa type D application must comply with the requirements for the temporary residence permit application, meaning:
- superlegalized or apostilled – according to the Hague Convention (more information about the Hague Convention and a list of signatory countries can be found here)
- translated by a certified translator – translations must be done by a translator from the official list of translators or by a translator authorized by the Slovak embassy or consulate. Note: Not all embassies or consulates have the capacity to provide such translations
