The need to improve the students’ knowledge of foreign languages is reflected in the curricula of all faculties at SUA, in which foreign languages are classified as compulsory, selective or optional course. Students may choose from the following languages: English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Slovak language for foreign students and Basic Slovak language.
In order to improve foreign language competence of students the Department of Languages offers preparatory courses for UNIcert Level II and III in the English, German and Russian, completed with the final exam, followed by further study of professional language. Individual language courses are listed in the Course Catalogue of SUA.
Moreover Dep. of Languages provides opportunities to improve foreign language skills through a variety of extra-curricular language courses offered for students, staff and the general public.
Language preparation for international students to study in Slovak language
The language of instruction at SUA is Slovak, several degree programmes are also taught in English language. For studying a whole degree program in Slovak, the international student needs to be able to follow the lectures in Slovak language.
To receive basic knowledge and preparation for study at Slovak universities the student has the possibility to take the course "Language and Academic Preparation before University Studies" with duration of one year at The Institute for Language and Academic Preparation for Foreign Students, Comenius University, Bratislava.
